EXPLORE Week 7: The Resurrection of Jesus – Matthew Chapter 27: 62-66 and Matthew 28: 1-20

Questions and thoughts
- How can human become alive again after death?
- The appearance of the angel was just an illusion.
- Which one would you be more amazed by: 1) The resurrection 2) An angel from heaven?
- How people knew it was an angel instead of God?
- (28: 18) “All authority…” Jesus was the God of gods at that moment?
- (28: 20) “…obey everything…” This seems really difficult because it could cause lots of conflict with our society or others.

Insights
- Which one would you be more amazed by: 1) God 2) angel?
- (28: 15) And “this story”…it is about the false story that the disciples stole the body of Jesus.
- (28: 1-20) ‘afraid’~4 times, ‘see’ & ‘saw’~4 times, ‘look’ & ‘looking’~2 times
- Isaiah 9: 6,7 shows that Jesus is the King, Isaiah 53: 2-6 shows that Jesus is a servant. During the journey to the cross, we could see clearly that Jesus was a servant. In Matthew 28: 9, 17 ‘worshiped’~2 times and this shows that Jesus is the King
- (28: 9) ‘clasped’ is a firm grasp, tight embrace. This shows that Jesus was real not an illusion.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual Formation
- for the Christians basically refers to the Spirit –driven process of forming the inner world of the human self in such a way that it becomes like the inner being of Christ Himself

6 basic aspects of human life:
1) Thought (images, concepts, judgements, inferences)
- our action tells what we believe
2) Feeling (sensation, emotion)
3) Choice (will, decision, character)
4) Body (action, interaction with the physical world)
5) Social context (personal and structural relations to others)
- If there is no love for others we will either act to attack or to withdraw/ignore
6) Sour (the factor that integrates all of the above to form one life)

Spiritual Change: the Reliable Pattern
VIM
V (vision): The Vision of the Kingdom of God (this is the driver for change)
I (intension): The intention to be a Kingdom person, the choice and determination to obey and follow
M (methods/means): means for spiritual transformation

The Golden Triangle of Spiritual Growth

Source: http://www.dwillard.org/articles/artview.asp?artID=105
We need to practice God’s presence with us but how?
- we need to turn our thoughts to God constantly, because God has always been with us.

Conclusion
Spiritual formation is not about trails by oneself but it is rather training by God. It is a process. It is about a relationship with God. The focus is not bout something being achieved or not but it’s a bout surrendering everything to God!
