Jesus Draw Me Ever Nearer

I look towards the wintering trees
To hush my fretful (烦躁) soul
As they rise to face the icy sky
And hold fast beneath the snow
Their rings grow wide, their roots go deep
That they might hold their height
And stand like valiant (英勇) soldiers
Through the watches of the night (不眠之夜)

And no human shoulder ever bears
The weight of all the world
But hearts can sink beneath the ache
Of trouble’s sudden surge
Yet far beyond all knowing
There’s a strong unsleeping light
That reaches ‘round to hold me
Through the watches of the night

I have cried upon the steps that seem
Too steep for me to climb
And I’ve prayed against a burden
I did not want to be mine
But here I am and this is where
You’re calling me to fight
And You I will remember
Through the watches of the night
You I will remember
Through the watches of the night.

 And Jesus draw me ever nearer
As I labour through the storm.
You have called me to this passage,
and I’ll follow, though I’m worn.

May this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart’s testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.

Jesus guide me through the tempest (暴风雨);
Keep my spirit staid (稳重) and sure.
And when the midnight meets the morning,
Let me love You even more.

And may this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart’s testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.

And let the treasures of the trial
Form within me as I go –
And at the end of this long passage,
Let me leave them at Your throne.

And may this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart’s testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.

4 Different Types of Poor

1. The Indigent 贫困 Poor
- deprive of basic necessity of life

Proverb 21: 13

2. The Indolent 怠惰 (Dàiduò) Poor

Proverbs 6: 6-11
Proverbs 10: 4

3. The Powerless Poor
- oppressed victims of human injustice

4. The Humble Poor
- acknowledge our helplessness and look to God alone for salvation

Zephaniah 2: 3, 3: 12
Psalms 34: 1-6
Matthew 5: 3-12

What the Bible has to say about caring of the poor?

Luke 16: 19-31 (The rich man and Lazarus)

Matt 25: 35-45 (Dividing the sheep and the goat)

Both passages talk about the "sin of omission"

- to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
- to recover of sight for the blind
